The Kazhaks90 family has one more huge reason to be immensely proud. Very proud. Athira Sajith’s Kerala Mural Paintings based on the 18 Puranas, commissioned by DC Books as the cover jackets to their latest series, has been garnering popular praise and critical acclaim across the state.
The artwork of “18 Puranangal- Lokam Namikunna Nammude Paithrikam, Nammude Kathakal” art exhibition commenced at Ernakulam Darbar Hall Arts Centre from August 7 and was inaugurated by renowned literary critic Professor M.K. Sanu.
For those who didn’t know, Athira Sajith is the exceptionally-talently-extraordinarily-creative better-half of our own Sajith CS ( 1993 ), and her month-long exhibition across Kerala is on its last leg now, with its final stop at Alliance Française de Trivandrum, from August 19 – 22, 2014.
About 18 Puranas by DC Books
Of the many texts designated ‘Puranas’ the most important are the Mahāpurāṇas. These are always said to be eighteen in number, divided into three groups of six, though in fact they are not always counted in the same way. DC Books has now brought this out as a set of 18 volumes, and Athira Sajith’s original painting that captures the essence of the particular text adorns its cover as an original artwork, conceptualised in the traditional Kerala style Mural Paintings.
All done as acrylic on canvas, the Original Series is available for art-lovers for direct purchase from the artist as independent units or as the entire series.
