Rajiv-AAccording to an update from Girish Kumar/1928/ The Class of ’89, our dear buddy Rajeev, presently SO1 Trg & Coordm, AEC Training College & Centre, Panchmarhi, ( whatever that means πŸ™‚ ) has been awarded the Chief’s Commendation on 24 Feb 2012, during the Chief’s visit to that institution.

Rajeev ( oops.. Lt Col Rajeev ) joined NDA in 1990 ( 85 course), and was commissioned into 1 Naga Regiment in 1994. Due to a shoulder injury, which got aggravated during the Kargil War, in which he fought with the regiment, he was medically down graded and eventually converted to the Army Education Corps (AEC) in 2004.

Gen Ghumman Singh, our ex- Head master, who was the DG of AEC at that time, was instrumental in Rajiv joining the AEC, rather thanΒ  going to any other services like ASC or AOC. He has served as Registrar of Sainik School Balachadi, Gujarat, and has been a GTO in 34 SSB, Allahabad.

And now, hear this !

Rajeev is a prospective Principal of Sainik School, Kazhakootam.

Shamelessly vain and proud of you dear buddy. Can’t wait to hear ofΒ  far more laurels heaped on you going forward.

  1. I am sure Col Rajeev will carry out his duties well. May SSKZM do well in studies and also in the games field. But Col Rajeev — please note – SSKZM team will not be able to beat OBA Basketball team during OB Day this year also. OBA Team has lost only twice to SSKZM in the last 35 years (once when Headmaster was Referee and the other time PT Saab was Referee). So here is OBA Team challenging SSKZM in Basketball to be held on 12 Dec 2015. Coordinator of this blog – Kindly send me Col Rajeev’s email id and Mobile no., so that I can inform him about OBA’s challenge straightaway . πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    warm regards,

    Louis George 642 / 1972 (self appointed πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ OBA Basketball Team Captain πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ :), 09869505861

  2. Rajiv was the school volleyball captain when we went to play the inter sainik school match at Sainik school korkonda. This was in 1990. A young and newly married Sudheer sir was the master assigned to accompany us. For reasons i dont quite remember, we in 11th std were the mainstay of the team, A deviation to the usual norm at that time. Rajiv even-tough captain, and taller than most of us used to stay out of the playing 6 and cheer us from the bench. He was very good with strategy even then and a very very good Leader.

  3. Finally so long after the school came into being the cock house will be decided on their performance in kappa, kozhi, kula episodes.

Jokes apart Rajiv is known to us as the most dedicated student during school days way ahead of all. Being from the same house in sub juniors and seniors i am reminded of sleepless days (literally 24 X 7 without sleep) he used to stay awake come exam season.

His acute experiences and the resolve that made him to befittingly reply pakis while leading his men into kargil war would be simply an asset in any leadership role that is assigned to him.

Wish you all the best Buddy!
